Loxton Walk Festoon Lighting

Public Realm

multi-coloured lights over a street

The Breif

Loxton Walk is a new mixed-use destination in Marylebone, London providing 27,200sq ft. of flexible retail, leisure and dining space. Our brief was to deliver a festoon lighting solution that would enhance the character of the development, strengthen its evening atmosphere and support Loxton Walk’s positioning as a welcoming, high-quality destination.

The Solution

Field and Lawn recommended a Maxi-Led, Globe Series, semi-permanent architectural festoon product, because it combines aesthetic impact with long-term durability and low running costs.

Importantly, the system provides complete control through a full spectrum RGBW LED, offering more than 16.7 million hues, which can be programmed into dynamic animations and effects. The globes deliver a warm, welcoming light that enhances the character and appeal of the development, reinforces Loxton Walk’s position as a premium social destination.

Our in-house team designed the layout to maximise visual impact and installed 223m of festoon lighting featuring 378 globes. We completed the installation over night to minimise disruption to local businesses. Watch the video and see the Loxton Walk festoon lighting case study in full.

Southgate Bath Colour Rain Meadow

Public Realm

Returning for its second year, SouthGate Bath’s immersive woodland experience is delighting visitors with a magical transformation of the high-street. Featuring 150 metres of colourful meadow inspired rain ribbons, with 100 flowers and 100 bees hidden throughout the display, encouraging visitors of all ages to explore, discover and count them all as part of the interactive trail.

Placemaking through high street with over head green meadow colour rain with hanging floral and bees

The Brief

The brief was to transform a key city-centre route into an immersive, family-friendly experiential placemaking experience. Resulting in creating a “Secret Forest” that would guide visitors through SouthGate Bath’s shopping and dining area.

The client aimed to drive commercial outcomes by increasing footfall, enhancing the overall visitor experience, and encouraging visitors to spend a longer time and exploring everything SouthGate Bath has to offer.

  • The activation needed to be a social-first, shareable experience, to encourage visitors to capture and share organic content, particularly short-form video filmed beneath the installation.

  • Include an interactive element as a hidden layer to encourage discovery and repeat engagement (the hidden flowers and bees within the canopy).

  • Lead with sustainability, with the aim of weaving a clear environmental message into the experience while creating opportunities for visitors to learn more about the importance of protecting and preserving our natural woodlands along the trail.

  • Plan and deliver installation with minimal disruption to trading, completing works over night-time shifts.

  • Ensure a circular end-of-life plan for the installation materials, including donation for creative reuse post-campaign.

The Solution

Part of the Festival of Nature, the huge overhead canopy guides visitors through shops and restaurants. The shimmering, family friendly summer display is already gaining thousands of views on TikTok, with people sharing short videos from underneath the canopy. People are certainly sharing the love for the magical idea!

The installation also carries a strong environmental message and encourages families to follow the illustrative trail and learn more about preserving and protecting our woodland wildlife, from birds and insects to mammals and native plants! See the previous placemaking display in Bath here.

The Solution

Chila Burman has unveiled 14 glowing artworks, including eight new commissions specially for Leicester Square Gardens towering nearly ten feet high. Titled ‘There Is No Darkness in the Garden of Light’, the public artworks were on display in the capital’s entertainment district. Field and Lawn were asked to provide expert guidance for the installation of the stunning illuminated features. They created a beautiful attraction in the heart of London and helped to boost seasonal footfall in the colder autumn and winter months.

Debuting ahead of Diwali, Burman’s installation included a hypnotic trail of fluorescent artworks exhibited around Leicester Square including neon’s embellishing the front of London Trocadero, The Hippodrome Casino, Westminster Reference Library and The Londoner hotel.

The head-turning art paid homage to iconic local landmarks, such as the water fountains of Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square Gardens, while also connecting with William Shakespeare whose statue stands as a centrepiece in the gardens.

“I’m made up to unveil my vibrant neon installation, There Is No Darkness in the Garden of Light. Through a series of glowing artworks, I invite people to experience the West End at night and discover how I pay homage to iconic figures of Indian feminism and landmarks like the water fountain in Leicester Square Gardens, to spread joy and celebrate London’s diverse communities.”

“Art After Dark returns bigger than ever before, inviting culture seekers to explore the West End’s spectacular exhibitions, bars, and restaurants. The Galleries on Cork Street joined forces for a group exhibition entitled ‘Fear Gives Wings to Courage’ to celebrate 100 years as a landmark destination for art in London and recognise the galleries as a pioneering force within the art world.

artistic placemaking flags

The Brief

Field and Lawn were asked to project manage the installation of bold, artistic flags, creating a visually powerful activation that transformed the Cork Street scene while honouring its rich legacy of modern and contemporary art.

The Solution

The ‘Fear Gives Wings to Courage’ installation was staged across all 15 galleries on Cork Street.

  • Each flag represented each individual gallery’s response to a central theme conceived by Tarini Malik, curator of modern and contemporary art at the Royal Academy of Arts, London.
  • The exhibition theme recalled Cork Street’s pioneering role in transforming London into a hub for international art practices in the 20th century, while also making it one of the key platforms in Europe for the expansion of Surrealist and Dadaist movements.
“It is a huge honour for The Pollen Estate, as the 400 year old custodian of this part of Mayfair, to celebrate a century of artistic endeavour with Cork Street Galleries. The 15 galleries have come together to collaborate in a first-of-its-kind exhibition that honours the legacy of those who paved the way whilst championing the artists who continue to pioneer. This longevity is unrivalled in London and Cork Street Galleries, an initiative of the Pollen Estate, remains a world class destination for artists, galleries and art audiences.”
