Storage and logistics

Welcome to Santa’s grotto! Our regional depots in Bristol, Runcorn and Edinburgh are purpose designed for the safe storage and maintenance of festive lighting. We are not reliant on expensive third-party storage giving us the flexibility and access to stock at any time.

This makes maintenance efficient. We also have our own fleet of modern HGV and vans so can carefully control the delivery process from the depot to site. In our experience, one of the biggest efficiencies gains we can make is centred around mitigating damage during storage, transport, installation and removal. We have created specially designed storage systems for transporting sensitive festive lighting products. Our warehouse technology enables us to pinpoint products quickly reducing picking and packing time.

Frequently asked questions

When it comes to installing, maintaining and project manging Christmas lighting schemes, we are one of the most experienced and competent festive lighting contractors in the business. We offer a consultative service and are happy to help answer any questions you may have about festive lighting. Here are some of the common questions we get asked around installation.

A pull test is a structural safety test conducted on mounting points to ensure they can safely support the weight and wind loading of festive lighting installations such as cross-street displays or light ceilings. These tests measure the structural integrity of the fixing under a controlled force.

For public safety and compliance, pull tests are as a rule of thumb, generally conducted annually. The exact regularity of testing is always determined by our Engineers.  Local authorities or building owners may require more frequent testing depending on the specific site conditions.

Our commercial festive lighting uses low-voltage, energy-efficient LED systems, but the specific power requirement depends on the scale and number of lighting elements and access to power supply. We can conduct a site survey and specify the correct power loading, cabling, and circuit protection for your scheme.

As a highly experienced festive lighting contractor, we meet UK industry standards and heavily invest in training and developing our in-house teams to be some of the most highly qualified, competent crews in the industry. Our qualifications and accreditations include:

  • Highways Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS) – Registered Organisation
  • NEBOSH
  • IOSH
  • SSSTS
  • CSCS
  • IPAF
  • G39
  • Chapter 8 traffic management
  • Portable pull tester training
  • PASMA
  • Risk Assessment Training
  • First Aid
  • Manual handling, working at height and safe use of power tools
  • Electricians qualified to 18th edition

Installation time depends on the scale and complexity of the scheme and number of sites or streets involved, together with logistical considerations such as access constraints.  For typical town centre or retail schemes, installation can take anything from a couple of nights, with larger multi-site displays taking up to 3–4 weeks. Our in-house installation teams work through the night to minimise disruption on local businesses.

After the activation, we will return to safely de-rig all lighting elements and structural fixings. We take great care to remove without damage to infrastructure, together with the safe disconnection of all power supplies. The scheme is transported to our warehouse for maintenance and refurbishment for future years.
