what is a temporary structure?

A temporary event structure is a modular tensile structure that is deployed to provide temporary space for outdoor events

It’s usually a clearspan aluminium frame structure, with no internal poles built in bay increments. The structure is designed to be high quality, relocatable, rapid to install and quick remove. As they full under temporary event infrastructure, no foundations are required and the site can be quickly returned to normal after the event, show or exhibition.

Fit-out can include cassette flooring, PVC or solid/glazed walls, doors, staging, lighting, temporary power, and HVAC. These temporary structures are anchored by stakes or ballast blocks, depending on the ground conditions.

We stock a wide range of temporary event structures. We have small temporary event structures from 3m x 3m conical pagodas up to expansive 30m wide large clearspan temporary structures. These larger structures are perfect for agricultural shows and festivals.

The range includes clearspan event marquees and pagodas are perfect for a range of applications from corporate events through to sporting events. As they are modular we can create custom structures that perfectly fit the layout of your event. In addition, we can also deliver a wide range of flexible options to customise and finish your marquee. From furniture to HVAC, nothing is too much trouble for our team.

FAQs

Our experts answer the common questions about temporary structures

Are temporary structures suitable for winter or bad weather?

Yes, temporary event structures are deployed for events throughout the year and our temporary event structures engineered with wind and snow loading calculations, appropriate anchoring or ballast, and specification options such as door sets, and heating to keep conditions comfortable for your guests, no matter the conditions. Clearspan temporary event structures have a higher weather rating that sailcloth marquees, tipis and traditional marquees, providing a more robust structure.

Can we add power, lighting and HVAC to a temporary structure?

Yes, high bay lighting can be supplied, temporary electrics, LED lighting, distribution and heating/cooling can be provided as a turnkey package, including fuel management. You can specify a wide range of temporary power, lighting and HVAC for your marquee and our Project Managers can make the arrangements for you with our trusted supply chain partners.

Do we need planning permission?

Often not for short-duration events, but it depends on location, time on site and local authority rules. If you need the structure for more than 28 days, it is likely that local authority planning permission (or a building warrant in Scotland) will be required. Your Project Manager can support any applications as required.

What ground conditions do you need?

You can install a temporary structure on most ground surfaces grass or hardstanding both provide the optimum surface with anchorage provided by pins. If you can’t penetrate the ground we use ballast blocks or weights. We assess the size of the structure, underground services and access for plant, then specify the right flooring and anchoring approach for your application.

Can you brand the roof and gables?

Yes, branding is a great addition to your temporary structure gables and façades can be a blank canvas for your brand. Simple banner rails can be added to full branding to the complete structure. We’ll supply proofs before production.
