Sustainable placemaking

Re-cycled, re-imagined and re-purposed. Meet ReActivate

ReActivate is a unique an innovative collection of highly sustainable placemaking solutions that uses recycled and sustainable materials together with low carbon manufacturing technology to create highly sustainable installations. Products are manufactured using clean energy, to ISO9001 quality standards, with materials sourced in line with the Global Recycled Standard and OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification. If you are looking for high impact, low carbon, market leading sustainability performance, we have the ideal solution.

From plastic to fabric, meet the flags of the future

We have pioneered the use of sustainable flags that use 100% recycled yarns taken from ocean waste and other rPET materials. From fabric flags hung across high streets to large-format banners and drop-down displays in shopping centres, we now offer options that eliminate harmful plastics whilst improving re-cyclability. This process involves taking plastic waste, such as bottles, transitioning through a cleaning and shredding process then spinning the plastic into yarn to manufacture flags.

PVC-free products

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) is considered to be one of the most challenging plastics to recycle and reuse. If you are looking for a more sustainable solution, a textile based fabric can be the ideal replacement. It is designed for indoor and medium-term outdoor applications, while being 100% PVC free and Phthalate-free. It can also be made from recycled yarns, offering enhanced sustainability credentials.

These yarns are spun into durable, high-performance textile substrates make them a perfect fit for placemaking applications. Despite being sustainable, they offer the same vivid print quality, UV stability, and tensile strength, making them perfect for cross street banners, large format, flags, signage and wayfinding solutions.

Re-active Air Coating

Air pollution remains a major concern for high streets, with nitrogen oxide (NOx) from vehicle emissions posing serious health and environmental risks. We have implemented an innovative solution to help improve air quality called a Re-active Air Coating. The innovative Re-Active Air Coating is applied to outdoor flags and banners and breaks down airborne NOx pollutants, helping purify the air in busy public spaces.

Independent testing conducted by the University of Sheffield highlighted that a 50m2 of flags or banners coated with Re-active Air can remove the pollution from about 20 cars every single day. It’s a win win scenario providing beautiful and engaging flags while reducing harmful particulates. And it gets better! The coating also performs as an anti-organic film, preventing discolouration, helping to maintain visual clarity, keeping your flags cleaner for longer.

From overhead installations to everyday objects

What happens when we take an installation down? One of the most effective ways to embed sustainability placemaking is through circular material recovery. We design our installations so that the materials used can be recycled, repurposed, or reimagined. This ensures not only waste reduction, but also allows for positive community engagement and storytelling opportunities. Forward-thinking projects must now strike a balance between creative expression, commercial impact, and sustainability.

Examples include donating materials to local Art Colleges, repurposing materials into every day objects such as tote bags and even re-shaping products into brand new installations.

Frequently asked questions

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a voluntary international product certification for the recycling and supervision of production, focused specifically on the textile industry. It encompasses the entire supply chain to meet the robust standards.

Windpower is used to meet more than 70% of the production demands and the factory is fitted with Solal photovoltaic panels, providing the additional 20-30% of the energy required for production. This makes production, cleaner, greener and more sustainable.

City dressing forms part of the placemaking mix.  It can use art installations, landscaping, projections, urban greening, large scale signage and other design elements to enhance the aesthetic appeal of urban spaces.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a label for textiles tested for harmful substances. It sets the benchmark for textile safety, from yarn to finished product. Every item bearing the STANDARD 100 label is certified as having passed robust safety tests.
