On Saturday the 12th of December, 21 teams of rowers started one of the world’s toughest physical challenges.
Departing from La Gomera in the Canary Islands, they embarked on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge – an epic 3000-mile voyage rowing across the Atlantic to Antigua.
Back on dry land, the Field and Lawn team is delighted to sponsor the 4-team boat, ‘For a Fitter Planet‘ who are raising money for Shelterbox and Workout for Water.
The team of 4 great friends are rowing in pairs – 2 hours on, 2 hours off for 24 hours a day for up to 40 days.
Richard, James, Josh and Keith are friends from school and university who have been in training for over a year now and are as fit as they ever have been.
They set out in beautiful sunny weather with the wind in their faces (which is good news when you are rowing) and expect their boat to arrive in the Caribbean Island of Antigua in mid-January.
You can keep track of the team’s progress through their website and we’re delighted to see they’re already halfway there!
