Loxton Walk Festoon Lighting

The Breif

Loxton Walk is a new mixed-use destination in Marylebone, London providing 27,200sq ft. of flexible retail, leisure and dining space. Our brief was to deliver a festoon lighting solution that would enhance the character of the development, strengthen its evening atmosphere and support Loxton Walk’s positioning as a welcoming, high-quality destination.

The Solution

Field and Lawn recommended a Maxi-Led, Globe Series, semi-permanent architectural festoon product, because it combines aesthetic impact with long-term durability and low running costs.

Importantly, the system provides complete control through a full spectrum RGBW LED, offering more than 16.7 million hues, which can be programmed into dynamic animations and effects. The globes deliver a warm, welcoming light that enhances the character and appeal of the development, reinforces Loxton Walk’s position as a premium social destination.

Our in-house team designed the layout to maximise visual impact and installed 223m of festoon lighting featuring 378 globes. We completed the installation over night to minimise disruption to local businesses. Watch the video and see the Loxton Walk festoon lighting case study in full.

Epsom Shopping Centre Christmas Display

Shopping Centres

Step inside and see the amazing commercial scheme we designed and installed for a shopping centre in Epsom.

The Brief

We were asked to design and install an eye‑catching and immersive Christmas lighting scheme to transform the shopping centre for Christmas. The focus was on filling atrium spaces with  standout festive destinations that accentuated the space and height, highlighting the building’s architectural features, open sightlines, balconies, and central voids to create a dramatic visual experience from every level.

The design needed feel cohesive, modern, and elegant, with a focus on vertical impact and layered illumination. Statement pieces suspended within the atrium, dynamic light elements that draw the eye upward, and accent lighting that highlights structural lines were encouraged.

The Solution

We delivered a bold, high‑impact and elegant Christmas lighting scheme designed specifically for a busy retail environment. We transformed the atrium with two large-scale striking suspended dove features, positioned to maximise visibility across all levels. These hero pieces were supported by dramatic light canopies that emphasised the vertical lines of the building and added instant festive sparkle.

To enhance the centre’s natural voids, we installed dense cluster lighting and accents, creating depth and continuity throughout the mall. We complemented these with icicle lighting across balustrades  to provide crisp, bright coverage.

Strategically positioned artificial Christmas trees, dressed with warm LED décor, added structure and balance across the scheme, perfect for anchoring high‑traffic areas without obstructing retail frontage and merchandising throught the centre.

The result was a fully cohesive Christmas display that delivered excellent coverage, enhanced customer movement through the centre, and created a memorable festive destination that worked beautifully both day and night, especially as the centre receives so much natural dalight.

Placemaking through high street with over head green meadow colour rain with hanging floral and bees

The Brief

The brief was to transform a key city-centre route into an immersive, family-friendly experiential placemaking experience. Resulting in creating a “Secret Forest” that would guide visitors through SouthGate Bath’s shopping and dining area.

The client aimed to drive commercial outcomes by increasing footfall, enhancing the overall visitor experience, and encouraging visitors to spend a longer time and exploring everything SouthGate Bath has to offer.

  • The activation needed to be a social-first, shareable experience, to encourage visitors to capture and share organic content, particularly short-form video filmed beneath the installation.

  • Include an interactive element as a hidden layer to encourage discovery and repeat engagement (the hidden flowers and bees within the canopy).

  • Lead with sustainability, with the aim of weaving a clear environmental message into the experience while creating opportunities for visitors to learn more about the importance of protecting and preserving our natural woodlands along the trail.

  • Plan and deliver installation with minimal disruption to trading, completing works over night-time shifts.

  • Ensure a circular end-of-life plan for the installation materials, including donation for creative reuse post-campaign.

The Solution

Part of the Festival of Nature, the huge overhead canopy guides visitors through shops and restaurants. The shimmering, family friendly summer display is already gaining thousands of views on TikTok, with people sharing short videos from underneath the canopy. People are certainly sharing the love for the magical idea!

The installation also carries a strong environmental message and encourages families to follow the illustrative trail and learn more about preserving and protecting our woodland wildlife, from birds and insects to mammals and native plants! See the previous placemaking display in Bath here.

Hidden throughout the vibrant installation are 116 fish, each one carefully nestled within the display, inviting visitors to explore, discover, and count them all as part of the interactive experience.

The Brief

The brief was to transform a key city-centre route into an immersive, family-friendly experiential placemaking experience, an “underwater world” that guides visitors through the shopping and dining area.

The client wanted to drive commercial outcomes by helping to increase footfall, improve the overall visitor experience, and encourage people to stay longer and explore more of what SouthGate Bath offers.

  • The activation needed to be a social-first ‘shareable moment’ designed to generate organic content and visibility (notably short-form video captured beneath the installation).
  • Include an interactive layer hidden elements within the installation that encourage discovery and repeat engagement (the hidden fish within the canopy).
  • Lead with sustainability, embedding a clear environmental message and encouraging recycling on-site through a prominent feature element.
  • Plan and deliver installation with minimal disruption to trading, completing works over night-time shifts across three nights.

The installation also carries a strong environmental message and encourages re-cycling through a larger-than-life recycling container fish! Plastic waste was planned to be collected and in collaboration with Bristol Avon River Trust, recycled or repurposed. In addition, the ribbons will have a new lease of life for reuse.

St Stephens Shopping Centre, Hull

Shopping Centres

The Brief

One of Hull’s most popular shopping destinations, St Stephen’s is home to a host of well-known high-street stores and restaurants and attracts more than 10 million visitors each year. In 2025, Field and Lawn were pleased to help St Stephen’s design a bespoke commercial festive lighting installation that would add a touch of Christmas magic to their visitors’ shopping experience.

The Solution

The scheme included:

  • 38 swags of light up stars
  • 11 animated warm white LED lit stars on entrances and exits
  • 200m of icicle lighting across internal balustrades
  • Suspended hot air balloon 3D feature
  • 7m freestanding star in entrance of shopping centre

This scheme took inspiration from a previous Oxford Street display, and our team installed the necessary infrastructure required to reduce the triple-height atrium and create an overhead sea of lights. Installation included the use of 750m of catenary wire, 75 eye bolts and a crew of 4 in-house technicians working overnight for 2 weeks under strict health and safety practices.

After a companywide competitive tender, we welcomed Field & Lawn to St Stephens for the first time in 2025. While we had helped to spec the scheme back in the summer the finished article really was spectacular! Coupled with a positive and professional installation/take-down service, F&L really delivered exactly as promised.

Our team returned to Barons Quay in Northwich this year to install another breathtaking festive display. In its second consecutive year of collaboration with Field & Lawn, the Christmas display underwent an enchanting transformation in order to bring the shopping centre something different for 2023. The goal was to create a captivating and unique experience for visitors, building on the success of the previous year’s display. This year’s features embraced a Magical Fairytale theme, offering a fresh and immersive experience for shoppers.

The Specification

  • Castle Walkthrough
  • 3D illuminated snowman
  • Snowflake arches
  • Ice throne feature

  • Internal christmas tree

The Solution

The centrepiece of the 2023 display was a stunning Castle walkthrough, strategically positioned in the main display area. This innovative addition replaced the previous year’s giant Igloo walkthrough, providing a fresh and distinctive focal point for visitors. Additionally, the Field & Lawn team installed a 3D illuminated snowman that stood 3 metres tall welcoming visitors to the shopping centre and becoming a prominent feature for visitors to enjoy. The addition of an ice throne within the display area also become a popular spot for the coveted Christmas selfie! Inside, the Fairytale theme continued with a large 3D parcel arch complete with baubles.

Complemented by an internal Christmas tree, attracting footfall to the shopping centre this festive season. The carefully curated features of the Magical Fairytale theme provided visitors with numerous opportunities to engage with the display. The strategically placed selfie spots, including the Ice Throne and illuminated snowman, encouraged visitors to capture and share their experiences on social media. The resulting buzz generated increased footfall, creating a positive impact and generating business for the shopping centre.

Other Projects

Lion Walk, Colchester

Shopping Centres

The Brief

Our festive lighting team have been hard at work on their latest installation at Lion Walk Shopping Centre in Colchester. A wide range of lighting pieces transformed the shopping space into a dazzling celebration of the holiday season. Collaboration was a cornerstone of the project’s success. The team maintained constant communication with the Centre Manager, fostering a strong partnership that ensured the provision of essential on-site facilities and logistical support. Daily updates to the client played a pivotal role in addressing minor issues promptly and adjusting the installation schedule to accommodate concurrent onsite activities.

The Specification

The Solution

Beyond its visual appeal, the installation incorporated  sustainability considerations that contributed to a positive environmental and community impact. Choosing overnight  stays in Colchester not only reduced travel emissions but also allowed for more efficient working hours, speeding up the
installation process for our client.

The decision to purchase consumables locally not only minimised the carbon footprint but also enabled us to invest in the local Colchester economy through hotel stays,  consumable items, and meals. Moreover, the displays are made up of up to 50% recycled material! Our careful planning looks at all aspects of the delivery to ensure we reduce our footprint as much as possible while supporting the local economy. This demonstrates a commitment to environmental responsibility, aligning the project with Field & Lawn’s broader sustainability goals.

Installing any display in a shopping centre requires specific attention to detail. With visitors being able to interact much more closely with the festive lighting than any normal display, every fitting must be perfect to ensure that the displays look as impressive as possible. Pre-installation site visits proved invaluable in identifying necessary fittings that would be required. This enabled the team to remove the standard 13 amp plugs in each piece and pre-fit the required 16 amp plugs at the depot. This  streamlined the on-site installation process. Having a proactive approach not only saved a considerable amount of time but also ensured a smoother execution.
