Our Southern branch has invested in a new truck that is “ahead of its time.” The Mercedes-Benz Actros is the highest performing articulated truck on the market and it is beautiful. It is a highly effective, efficient and safe truck which is extremely reliable and comfortable.
Our new truck has the best fuel efficiency possible with the Euro 6 engine delivering 3000Nm or torque and 625hp. It has a fifth generation braking system that assists the driver by performing emergency braking when approaching moving or static objects as well as full or partial braking when approaching pedestrians. It therefore reduces the risk and almost entirely prevents potential accidents.
There are no mirrors as the truck operates a mirror cam system that gives a much better view for the driver and will even automatically pan around when manoeuvring and turning corners. The aerodynamism of the Mirror Cam system improves fuel efficiency by 1.3% which is considerable for long-haulage.
We have also installed the latest requirements for driving HGVs in London, as part of Sadiq Khan’s plan to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries from road collisions. The Direct Vision Standard requires all HGVs entering the capital to have blind spot cameras, close-proximity sensors and audible alerts for turning left, amongst other things.
