In March 1992, Joe Spalding walked through the doors of Field and Lawn Scotland as a fresh faced 31-year-old, little did he know that it would be the start of an amazing 30-year long career!

Joe started as a marquee rigger, working out on site, travelling all over Scotland, delivering an array of fabulous structures for everything from parties and weddings to large music festivals.

It wasn’t long before his brilliant work ethic was recognised and he worked his way through the ranks to marquee foreman, leading a team of men and keeping spirits high with his great sense of humour.

In 2003 he traded the travel for a more settled position within the yard, using his expertise to organise and load the kit for the onsite teams.  There is nothing that Joe doesn’t know about the Field and Lawn Scotland kit, he is a fountain of all knowledge and is often called upon by others for his advice and expertise.

With no thoughts of retirement, you will now find Joe shooting about the yard on his forklift!  A forklift like no other!  To celebrate his 30 years of loyal service he was presented with a bespoke ‘gold’ forklift, hand-painted with ‘Joe 30’ on the side.  We think it looks rather smart and a fitting tribute for his loyal service to Field and Lawn.
